If you don\u2019t know if you should call your dentist or how to handle the situation, here are 3 tips to make it through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willowgrovedentist.com\/emergency-dentistry.html\">dental emergency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Do in a Dental Emergency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As with any emergency, time is of the utmost importance. You\ndon\u2019t want to waste valuable time trying to figure out what to do. Here are 3\nsteps to take to save your smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAssess the situation. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you\u2019ve had an accident, or a toothache is\nkeeping you awake at night, look for obvious concerns, like bleeding, a broken\ntooth, or swollen gum tissue. As you examine the extent of the problem, stay\ncalm. Then, move on to provide the appropriate care at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nProvide first aid. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the specific issue you\u2019re\nhaving, here\u2019s what you can do at home:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Knocked out tooth:<\/strong> Hold it by the crown\nand rinse it with water. Don\u2019t use any soaps or cleaners. Gently try to\nreinsert it back into the socket and bite on gauze to prevent it from moving.\nIf you\u2019re not successful, keep it moist by placing it in a cup of milk.<\/li><li><strong>Toothache:<\/strong> This often indicates an\ninfection. Use an over-the-counter pain reliever to manage your discomfort.<\/li><li><strong>Broken\/Fractured Tooth:<\/strong> Keep the tooth\nclean and don\u2019t chew with it until after it has been repaired.
