Most people would say\nthey do. Roughly 52.3% of adults visit their dentist every six months, and 70%\nbrush their teeth twice a day. Yet, even with most of us practicing great\ndental habits, the American College of Prosthodontists reports that about 120\nmillion people are missing at least one tooth, and 36 million don\u2019t have any\nteeth at all! Unfortunately, you can have great oral hygiene habits, never miss\nyour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willowgrovedentist.com\/checkups-and-cleanings.html\">dental\ncheckup<\/a>, and still be hurting your teeth on a daily basis. Here\u2019s what your\ndentist wants you to know about everyday habits and routines that could be\ndamaging your teeth, and what you can do about them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your Dental Routine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone knows that a daily dental care routine is important\nfor taking care of your teeth. However, many people don\u2019t consider how they\nbrush. If you brush your teeth with too much force or use a toothbrush with\nhard, stiff bristles, you may be doing more harm than good. Overly aggressive\nbrushing wears away at your enamel and causes gum recession. This can lead to\nsensitive teeth, exposed roots, and susceptibility to gum disease. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t let too much of a good thing damage your teeth. If you\nbrush your teeth with a sawing motion or squash your bristles while brushing,\nyou are over-brushing. To fix this bad habit, brush with short stokes and scrubbing\nmotions, using just enough pressure to feel the bristles massaging your gums,\nand only use toothbrushes with soft or medium grace bristles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;Stress Management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How you control stress in your day-to-day life plays a big\npart in taking care of your teeth. Healthy management techniques include yoga,\nmeditation, exercising, and adequate rest.
